Governor Akeredolu Signs 2018 Appropriation Bill Of 181 Billion Naira Into Law




Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has signed the 2018 Appropriation Bill of 181 billion Naira into law.

At the budget signing ceremony in Akure, the state's  capital on Tuesday, Governor Akeredolu commended members of the State House of Assembly for its cooperation and speedy passage of the appropriation bill.

The Governor said there was need to make the budget reflect the aspirations of people of the state, through effective implementation and purposeful governance.

He promised that government will embark on an aggressive revenue-generation drive for the realisation of the 2018 budget, with the establishment of a new board of internal revenue to expand the tax base of the state.

The 2018 budget has forty-three point three billion naira as recurrent expenditure, while eighty point nine billion naira is earmarked for capital expenditure, the highest in the history of the state.

Earlier, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Bamidele Oleyelogun,  advised citizens of the state to see government property as theirs.

Governor Akeredolu also signed the contributory health bill into law, as well as a bill establishing the State Social Protection Council.
